ARTIKA and Manolo Valdés: worldwide premiere of Damas y caballeros

The debut artist’s book by Manolo Valdés, crafted in collaboration with ARTIKA, was unveiled on February 27th at the Museo Thyssen in Madrid.

“When I saw the finished book for the first time, I wanted to start engraving again”. This was Manolo Valdés’ reaction when he laid hands on a copy of Damas y caballeros for the first time.

The artist has played a pivotal role in shaping this exclusive edition, a fact underscored during its launch at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid. The event featured a press conference attended by prominent figures including Marc Buil, Global Director of ARTIKA, Macarena de Eguilior, Editorial Director at ARTIKA, and in the image with the artist, Juan Ribalta, CEO of ARTIKA, and the president of Grupo Planeta, José Creuheras.

Each of the 998 copies of Damas y caballeros, personally signed by Valdés, includes an Art Book with the 53 engravings and a Study Book. The Study Book features insights from experts including Guillermo Solana, Director of the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, and Kosme de Barañano, Professor of Art History.

This edition marks a milestone in the art world, offering a unique opportunity to acquire a piece exclusively designed by Manolo Valdés: the stunning figure of a menina, crafted in resin and integrated into the display case that houses Damas y caballeros.
